Is it me or is @TheTimMcGraw looking “Manorexic”?

In recent interviews, Tim McGraw said, in 2008, he became sober. He replaced alcohol with exercise. As he has replaced one addiction for another, we are treated to seeing his new svelte appearance undressed in his new music videos and recent PR photos.

According to an online interview, he works out two hours per day including weight training. He trains in martial arts three times per week in 90 minute sessions. (He must have lots of time on his hands or is secretly embarking on a career in MMA.) I have no idea when his day off is. All I can say is “Tim, your body looks 32 and your face 52.”

I don’t know T.M. but he is not much older than me. However, he looks ten years older than me and why? The fact is after 40, if you begin to lose too much weight it ages you. You will lose fat from your face.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a guy who appreciates being lean but if I were to take on McGraw’s gaunt appearance I would hope a friend would call me out.

Tim! I’m being a friend.  Enough is enough. Your appearance is taking a hit. Consider talking to a mental health professional and find out what this is all about. Weight, addiction and self-esteem are a tightly wound knot.

There is lots to be said about the replacement technique but addiction is addiction. It is easy to move one fixation onto another. Again, I don’t know if this is the case with Tim McGraw. This is all an observation from someone who works in a business where eating disorders, and disordered eaters, abound.

According to statistics from the National Eating Disorder Association, more than a million men and boys battle the anorexia every day.  40% of binge eaters are men. Actor Ashley Hamilton recently divulged his longtime battle with an eating disorder and addiction.

The social pressures to remain young, vital, and ripped 24 hours a day, 365 days a year is there for both men and women. Exercise addiction and eating disorders are easy to hide because they are more likely to be rewarded. Stop and think. How does your body reflect your life?

We all make our choices.

Exercise Consciously.
